Successful PDC Cutter Trial in Russia’s Volga-Ural Region

An oil & gas drilling project in Russia’s Volga-Ural region is showcasing the performance of Field Diamond’s PDC cutters. The customer initially encountered challenges drilling through abrasive formations that caused premature wear with previous cutters. After switching to a 146.0 mm bit equipped with both the P series (premium) and E series (standard) cutters from Field Diamond, the operation made significant progress. The bit has successfully drilled 1,900 meters and remains in continuous operation, demonstrating a clear improvement in tool life and drilling efficiency. 

Throughout the process, the PDC cutters have maintained excellent edge sharpness and structural integrity with no signs of breakage. The PDC cutters have proven capable of withstanding the high wear and toughness requirements imposed by the abrasive formations encountered in oil & gas drilling. By combining both P and E series cutters, the PDC drill bit offers an optimal balance between durability and cost-efficiency, suitable for a wide range of field requirements.
