In a recent field trial in Europe, the customer tested a new hammer bit featuring PDC cutters on the gauge and standard carbide through the center. The results were exceptional. The new PDC hammer bit achieved 820 meters on a single run, in the same formation, a carbide hammer bit is typically good for about 50meters per run, for a total of four runs-and that’s already a solid result for carbide type. This means the PDC hammer bit delivers a service life more than 4 times longer.
