In the process of development, in order to guarantee the precision and quality stability of PDC Cutter, and minimize the tolerances in the production process, Field Diamond Limited has invested in the R&D of resin bond and ceramic bond diamond wheels, specifically designed for PDC Cutter machining, which provides a 30% longer life compared to general diamond wheels, and has been supplied to industry users, which has contributed to the improvement of the PDC cutter processing.

The initial impact energy is set at 40J for the first 10 impacts. In the absence of any damage, the energy level is incrementally raised by 10J for the subsequent 10 impacts. This process of increasing the impact energy and frequency continues incrementally, with each stage raising the stakes until eventually, the PDC cutters reach their limit and fail. This incremental approach allows for a detailed understanding of the cutters’ durability and failure point.

During the test, the object was able to penetrate the granite to a depth of 1.25 mm. During the experiment, the rotational cutting method with constant linear velocity was adopted, and the rotational speed was maintained at 107 m/min to ensure uniform cutting. The cutting operation continues until the composite plate breaks, thus precisely measuring the penetrability of the object under test to the granite.

After placing the PDC cutters in a tubular furnace, and heat it for 15 minutes under an air atmosphere, then cool for 15 minutes. Perform cyclic thermal shock testing, repeating the heating and cooling cycle 5 times at each temperature level without damage. Increase the temperature level by increase 25 degrees and continue the cyclic thermal shock testing until product failure occurs.
